John accompanied Steve to school today and they decided to visit the principal. Here is the conversation that followed:
Principal Maguire: Hey John! What are you here to learn today?
John: Physics!
Principal Maguire: What do you already know?
John: Calculus!
Principal Maguire: What do you want to be when you grow up?
John: A rock star!

This is What Happens When...

...you invite your 3 1/2 year old to make brownies with you. :)
First, you get chocolate all over your face. On purpose.

Then you try to take a nice picture but the toddler starts getting silly and you get a double chin...probably from all that chocolate.
Then you decide to just give up and get silly with the kid. Cause hey, you've got a "3" in your age, too. It just happens to be followed by a "0".

So we made John's teachers' day today...
John was wearing his rock star shirt and told Danielle that he has to have long hair to be a rock star. So I added that it was because he likes to watch the 80s hair band videos with Daddy and that John has also mentioned that he wants the leather pants. She thought that was great. But then, because she was laughing at what Daddy "taught" him, John decided to come out and say, "Mommy, you're insane in the membrane!" Yep, Danielle thought that was the best thing she'd heard all week. But it didn't stop there. I figured we'd just top it off since he was being quite the comedian, and we finished with "I've got the skills...to pay the bills." Danielle was laughing and the other girl thought it was too funny. Danielle said we just made her day.

Upon coming down the stairs after a nap, John asked to hold Andrew and said, "I missed Andrew when I was napping. I dreamed of him crawling."

And the Word of the Day Is...

John got new shoes yesterday. They're those really "cool" kind that light up and they have Spider-man on them. What's not to love? Steve and I allowed John to wear them to bed last night because he was so excited about them. However, we told him that it was the only time he could wear his shoes to bed. He agreed.
Fast forward to tonight. John is still enamored with his shoes. He asked to wear them to bed again. I refused. John threw an absolute fit complete with tears, stomping (accompanied by the flashing lights from the shoes), and screaming. I told John I had an idea. He couldn't wear his shoes to bed, but he could bring them into bed with him. John begrudgingly agreed, but made one thing clear:
"I hate this compromise!"
My kid may be wearing light up shoes, but he's got a heck of a vocabulary. :)

John: What do you want to buy?
Me: I would like to buy some strawberry ice cream.
John: That will be $50,000.
Me: $50,000?! That's too expensive. I'd like to buy some crayons instead.
John: Those are $60,000.
Me. What?! Oh my. I'd like a book instead then.
John: Those are $60,000.
Me: A book that costs $60,000?? That must be a good book!
While playing store:
